European consolidated tape is a must says Committee of European Securities Regulators

The Committee of European Securities Regulators has expressed its views of having a regulatory solution for post-trade data sources. The CERS reported to the European Commission recommending a trading structure revision to the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID).

The CERS would also look at high-frequency trading and make the whole post-trade data process simpler in order to reduce the time it takes to publicize data. In addition to that, it would work on reporting of client ID's either to the receiving firm or the authorized regulatory body. These changes would bring in more confidence to all market participants.
